Menu Animation

An animated menu concept that translates an illustrator’s aesthetic into a functional game UI.

About
This concept explores the tension between expressive illustration and usability. I wanted to create a menu UI that feels visually unconventional—closer to an artist’s language—while still being readable and functional as a navigational system.
I designed a modular menu layout and focused on state transitions: how the interface behaves as you move across sections, what changes, and what stays consistent. The core idea is a morphing main navigation bar that transforms as you navigate, keeping continuity while making each section feel distinct.
To preserve a handcrafted, retro feel, I animated the piece at 12 fps. The project was a practical exercise in motion hierarchy, rhythm, and legibility—how to keep style high without losing clarity.
